The world’s population is expected to increase by 2 billion people in the next 30 years, from 7.7 billion currently to 9.7 billion in 2050, according to the United Nations. A major concern for countries around the world is ensuring that the supply of food continues to grow in line with the population. But population growth, per se, is not the primary problem. By 2050 an estimated seven out of ten people will live in poor countries reliant on food imports, the real crunch is likely to come from the changing dietary preferences from people increasingly bringing with them a higher demand for convenient, processed foods, meat and for dairy products.

Food Security is a particular concern at DCX. Events in 2020 highlighted just how important it is for countries to have flexibility in their supply chains for food related commodities. We believe that the best solution to these challenges is to make it easier to find new suppliers and to have a data driven approach to reducing risk.

DCX is driven by the following principles.

The best way to reduce waste, energy consumption and environmental impact is with a data driven approach that allows consumers to understand the provenance of what they are buying. Consumers and purchasers can only buy what they want if they have choice and can source what they require. This in turn will generate price signals that create the right conditions for producers to change their habits.

DCX is driven by the following principles.

Certification forms an integral part of any provenance solution and the best organizations to certify are the ones that are also inspecting the goods prior to shipment. Our inspection partners, Intetek, Cotecna and Control Union are all fully integrated into the platform so you can trust not just the data they provide but also its origin.
